In June I will be making live a 9 part mini-series of podcasts looking at how the Alento wine region is responding to worsening extreme climate conditions that will soon become the climate normal.
Despite the stresses being faced by producers of wine, olive oil, cork, and more, there is hope that by switching tracks and starting to work with nature the tide can be turned.
The series includes interviews with climate and wine scientists, as well as interviews with winemakers, estate owners, and the manager of the Wines of Alentejo Sustainability Programme.
This is a contemporary story of communities struggling to adapt to new climate conditions in southern Europe in the face of the Sahara desert sweeping north.
